Kristi Dunkley is a trendsetter, professional, and the originator of Kinky Rootz. Kinky Rootz was created for those who have had a negative impact with chemicals or who just enjoy wearing their hair natural. Being a creative inspiration of our enriching African lineage has set her apart from the rest.
Kinky Rootz was created by owner and sole operator Kristi Dunkley in October 2004 after her licensure as a Natural Hair Stylist. She opened up her very own exclusive and trendy salon in May 2005 that has grown into a household name. Kinky Rootz is a Natural Hair Salon that uses no chemicals (with the exception of color) to create various artistic “kinky” or natural styles for men, women, and children. An innovator who remains at the top of her game in a thriving industry, Kinky Rootz Natural Hair Salon is setting the standard for natural beauty.
Many people have misconstrued views on what it means to wear your hair natural. Natural is defined as “not affected, not artificial…like real life”. Kinky Rootz Natural Hair Salon was created to revitalize individuals’ with “chemical free tresses” aiding in reaffirming and empowering their unique attributes, building self-esteem and self-worth, and liberating them from the socially imposed restraints regarding natural hair, thus originating the name and logo….
